Haun honored for her ongoing work in diabetes education

For more than a decade, Melinda Haun has been reaching out to the under-served in Cochise County and elsewhere in southern Arizona, in an ongoing effort to help those at risk for diabetes and those living with the disease.

About 11 years ago, Haun, a registered nurse, and her husband, John Haun, a physician, moved to Sierra Vista and soon found themselves working for the Chiricahua Community Health Centers.

After just a few weeks working in the Douglas and Elfrida areas, it became clear that diabetes was a large problem for a significant portion of the population.
